Rosegrams
Every Valentine's Day, there's an opportunity to send roses at Punahou. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to do that in person in 2021; therefore, I worked with some Punahou alumni, Jason Tay '20, Bradon Yee '20, and Trevor Komeiji '20, to make it possible to do so virtually. As a result, we could send more than 1000 virtual rosegrams throughout our Punahou community.
This allowed me to learn the JavaScript framework, React, and other web development tools and how to work collaboratively with those in a different time zone than me. In addition, I got the opportunity to work with them as they taught me many new things I would not have learned otherwise and worked with them to troubleshoot the different problems that arose.
Frameworks+ Used: PostgreSQL, Express, React JS, Node JS, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Docker
I was responsible for incorporating the different options for rosegrams and styling our site. Throughout this process, I used the connections and relationships I had from the student council and my knowledge of web development to explain procedures and work to troubleshoot problems.
